Branding and logo design in Cairns

Brands that still make sense in five years.

We're a branding studio in Cairns. We design logos, but more than that we build the whole system around them: the colours, the type, the way you write, the way a photo should feel. It's for businesses that are starting out, outgrowing a DIY logo, or looking at their brand and no longer seeing themselves in it. You walk away with a brand you can hand to anyone, a signwriter, a web developer, a new staff member, and get the same result every time.

What you're actually buying

A logo is the bit people point at. The brand is everything that makes the logo work: the colour that people recognise from across a car park, the typeface that makes a price list look considered, the tone that makes your emails sound like you. When those pieces agree with each other, people start to recognise you before they read your name. When they don't, you look like three different businesses.

That's why we don't sell a logo on its own. Every branding project here ends with a system, documented properly, that you own.

What's included

What's included in a branding project

A discovery session with the people who run the business (usually two hours, at our studio or yours)

A short written brief we both sign off before any design starts

Brand positioning: who you're for, what you stand for, and how you're different, in plain English

Naming, if you need it (see the Scape Studio project for how that works)

Logo design: a primary logo, a simplified version for small spaces and an icon or monogram

Colour palette with print and screen values

Typography: the fonts, sizes and rules for headings and body copy

Tone of voice: a page on how you sound, with examples of what to say and what not to say

Photography direction: what your images should feel like, so every shoot looks like the same brand

Brand guidelines as a PDF you can send to anyone

Final files in every format you'll need: print, web, social, signage, embroidery

Rollout designs as agreed: business cards, signage, vehicle wraps, uniforms, templates, social tiles

How it works

How a branding project runs

01

We listen first

The discovery session is where most of the real work happens. We ask about your customers, your competitors, where you want to be in five years and what you're sick of. We also ask what you love about your current brand, because a rebrand that throws out everything people already recognise is usually a mistake.

02

We agree on the brief

Before we draw anything, we write down what the brand needs to do and who it needs to speak to. You sign it off. This is the document we'll judge every design against, so the conversation stays about whether it works, not whether someone likes green.

03

We design, then refine

We present a small number of genuinely different directions, each explained against the brief, shown on real things like a sign, a website and an Instagram tile rather than floating on a white page. You pick one. We refine it together over agreed rounds.

04

We build the system and hand it over

Once the logo is locked, we build out the colours, type, tone and rules, then roll the brand onto whatever you need on day one. You get the guidelines and every file, and you own all of it.

Branding in Cairns

A Cairns branding studio, working everywhere

Our studio is at 176 Newell St in Bungalow, a few minutes from the Cairns CBD. Most branding projects start with a workshop around our table, so you can see the work as it develops and meet the people doing it.

Being local helps. We can stand in front of your shopfront, look at a sign from across the road or check a car wrap in the car park, rather than judging it on a screen. We've built brands for Cairns real estate agencies, builders, hospitality venues, health providers and tech companies.

We also work with businesses across Australia and overseas. Workshops and presentations run just as well by video call.

FAQ

Branding questions people ask us

How much does a logo cost in Cairns?

It depends on whether you need a logo or a brand. A logo on its own starts from [PRICE]. A full brand identity, with the guidelines, colour, type and tone of voice, starts from [PRICE]. Cheaper logos exist, and some are fine, but if you're going to put it on a building and a ute for ten years, it's worth doing once and properly. We'll give you a fixed quote after the first conversation, so there are no surprises.

How long does a branding project take?

Most brand identities take [TIMEFRAME] from the discovery session to final files. Naming adds time, because names need checking for trademarks and domains. The thing that slows projects down most is feedback rounds, so we'll agree on who signs off at the start.

What's the difference between a logo and a brand identity?

A logo is the mark. A brand identity is the whole kit: logo, colours, fonts, imagery style and tone of voice, plus the rules for using them. The logo helps people recognise you. The identity makes sure every flyer, website and post looks like it came from the same business.

Do I need a rebrand or just a refresh?

If people still recognise and trust your brand, and the problem is that it looks dated, you probably need a refresh: keep the bones, modernise the detail. That's what we did for Cairns Beaches Realty. If the brand no longer describes what you do or who you do it for, that's a rebrand. We'll tell you honestly which one you need.

Do I own the logo once it's finished?

Yes. Once the project is paid, you own the final artwork and all the files. We'll keep a copy on file in case you ever lose them, which happens more than you'd think.

Can you help with a business name?

Yes. We run naming as part of a branding project: a shortlist of options with the thinking behind each, checked for available domains and obvious trademark conflicts. You'll still want a lawyer or IP Australia to do the formal trademark search before you commit.

What do brand guidelines include?

Ours cover logo use and the mistakes to avoid, the colour palette with exact values, typography, photography direction and tone of voice. They're written so that a printer or a new staff member can follow them without calling us.
